Daytona 500

Post by lake on Sun Feb 20, 2011 10:03 am

Hey Colt ? where are you Smile Smile

Tired? hmm i wonder why Wink

Yesterday was an epic night.

All servers blasted by the numbers of drivers for Daytona 500.

They had to delayed the race.

I couldnt do that kind of events, how many hours of ovals? 3h00?

I watched some laps but impossible to stay too long.

I saw you were in good position and finished 10th.

Good result for a loooooong race like that.

The bad point for those who wanted to do something else than Daytona, was trying to join a server in a different series.

Many unhappy drivers yesterday.

Yes i'm completely exhausted, it was such a looooooong race but really excitng.
Around 1500 people registered for it so the servers crashed and it was delayed many times but once it started it was a real blast.
I really love the excitment of this kind of race , especially when there are 2 lines of cars with all the cars so close to each other, the downside is that it causes many yellow flags.
I went to sleep at 5 h 30 and it began at 2 so it makes a 3.5 hour race for 200 laps which are normally done in 48 seconds Very Happy
Too bad i made a pit stop during green flag so i lost one lap, i could have made better with a wiser strategy but i'm still learning and at the moment i really enjoy these nascar races a lot sunny

Yesterday was the daytona 500 day and i did it again (whoops Laughing ), more than 1600 racers in 38 splits and the server has been just fine.
I had a great and intense race and finished 2nd.
The first 50 or 60 laps i made my way to the top 5 and went throught the cautions quite well, around lap 120 a backlapper took me out of it with a strange move and i had to move back up and was lucky enough to find good draft partners.
For the last caution i was almost going to pit for fuel and found myself in 3rd at the restart for 15 laps to go, i pushed as hard as i could until the finish but was not feling secure enough to try to go for the win.
Went to sleep at 4 am but i wouldnt have missed it for anything bounce

Congratulations Colt, well done!

Phew, about 40 drivers per race? Very cool! Yes, the close fighting of oval is the best, especially as you gain experience. Just for the oval racing I will consider iracing - what was the entrance fee for the Daytona?

Thanks guys, the entrance was free for the Daytona 500 you just had to have a valid subscription and the chevrolet impala + daytona circuit( around 30$ for the 2 last ones).
