Better engine sounds Empty Better engine sounds

Post by Mauni Sat Aug 28, 2010 9:53 am

Last night I met colt online and after 5 minutes he was already getting headache from the sounds of LFS...

Here is an engine sound pack made by an Inferno guy: Inferno sound pack

It adds a little more balls to engine sounds of all cars. Usage is easy:
1. Download the zip file
2. Extract to your_LFS_folder\engine (make sure to extract only the engine files and not the folder they are in, so the .eng files are directly at the engine folder)
3. Start LFS and get on track. Press SHIFT+A
4. Press Pack-button at top right
5. Type "Team Inferno" (without quotes of course) and press OK. Done in 2 minutes.

Thanks my friend , i will try that.
It was quite shocking for my ears after so much time without launching LFS, i guess the next'long awaited' patch wont fix that also.
It is a bit sad to see this game being kind of out of date now, the development pace is so slooooooooooow No
It took me some time to get used to the driving but it kind of came back in the end when the headache was growing big Very Happy

That engine sound pack won't be a life savior for your ears, but at least it's better than defaults. Must be limitation with non-sampled sounds. They are very informational in sense what engine is doing, but sound isn't the best out there...

Yes, LFS is great value for the money, but development is very slow. I could pay more if it would help to develop the sim faster.

You were doing great on the server BTW. You're not a huge fan of RWD cars, but still were faster than most of the people on the server after a couple of laps.

Just realized that XRT has pretty loud turbo whine. If you play with headphones, that high pitch could get into your ears. Turbo noise can also be tuned in SHIFT+A menu.

I think it s the sounds generally speaking that bug me, a question of habit i guess.
I improved my RWD cars skills lately as i run a skip barber league and there is only one FWD car in my iracing package, the jetta which i dont run much.

Heh reminds me of buying LFS... I thought there would be rally versions of each track. Well there wasn't so I had to learn hard track racing instead of rallying pig

The only thing that annoyed me about Iracing was the lack of FWD cars ... great game besides that, altho it felt too much of a Sim to me, left no room for noobs to have fun.
It's either get it right or get it wrong and get punished for it (broken car + rating loss).

Yes it is really a serious sim and not a game, personnaly i do a lot of practice (if i have time) to do 1 or 2 races per week, a bit like you would do in real life i guess.
LFS was a lot more fun for me at the time but it feels quite unreal and boring for me nowadays.

Yes same for me.

Thats true, its a bit more serious than LFS, but most of us like realistics races, cars, etc...thats why Iracing is made for.

As Colt, im doing lot of practice (with other drivers) to feel cars and tracks.

The interesting thing is that the races you make are close to your own level.

If you begin, then you will be in low level races.

And days after days, you compete a bit more with better drivers.

To me , the real best sim ever but need a bit of involving.

Thats true that iracing is expensive but you really dont need to buy all contents on the beginning.

There is often some promotions, etc...

If you buy 3 or 4 DVD's it will be close to an one year license on Iracing.

Honestly, i bought all contents and i souldn't cos i dont drive a lot ovals tracks.

Of course that cost a bit but i think people can drive without spending too much money.

If some of you decide to go in, just ask me or Colt wich cars buying or not.

Ok fill me in, what do I need to get started? Cost is a factor, but I wouldn't be pleased not having at least a modest car.

Am I wrong in assuming this is a class system, where you have to drive so much in order to move up in cars.
These promotions, do any of them provide a demo version for a few weeks to try it out.

LFS is dieing in a big time hurry, it's always the same stuff, some team makes a great league and then they go and change all the rules and ruin it.

Cargame made you work up in safety ratings and sure enough, as soon as i got to the GTR class the put the restrictions on the cars, I think it's mostly because these i year drivers can't do more than 2 laps in the FZR or GTR without frying the tires.

The other day i watched Mauni drive the biggest tire eating car, and compared to me and Istabraq his tires were cool and had tons of grip, Istabraq is also great at keep the tires cool and grippe, me I brake way to hard and fry them in no time.

I think most of my issue is not being able to use clutch to go from 4th to second (I have to go through 3rd in paddle shifting and I believe this is where my problem occurs.

Is there anyway I can get on a server to watch you gents race. or is there a replay system where you could show a race between you and Colt.

On important note, the FZR skin has gotten alot of comments about the MOMO bee on the front end, Colt does great work.

If no one noticed I got into quite a rant with BBT from the old NASSA team, no other racer gets under my skin more as within 2 weeks of joining the whole team collapsed and for reasons of religion at that.

So If you happen to see that rant and want to reprimand me for my actions, I will take my licks and offer apologizes where needed.

I had no wish to see that Koran Burning item come onto LFS forum, the mods should have prevented such a world wide debate, it get out of control so I fought the thread with utter non sense.

If I have become an embarrassment to the team for this, I will follow any guide lines the team wishes me to follow.

The I HATE YOU thread was put up to show people that it's getting so bad a thread like that seemed the next logical step. I did keep it clean and said i hate Tomba for being such a safe clean driver, and living in such a great country...but with all things forum, it just gets twisted..

So send me what you can to help me assess IRacing and i'll sell off some toys for cash.

Well for iracing all you need is money Very Happy you get the basic content, 3 road cars and 1 oval plus a bunch of tracks. If you first want to try it buy one month and see if it fits what you expect, try to drive the solstice first as it's the easiest one.
The most important part is to try to keep it clean and improve your safety rating, do a lot of practice sessions where safety rating is not changed and a race when you feel you are ready.

For the forums arguing i personnaly dont take it too serious as it's only internet and it tends to bring up people's dark side easily. There are lots of funny pictures depicting what arguing on internet is and i agree with most of them.
